Kollam: Dr. Rajiv, famous neonatologist and the head of Amritha Institute Of Medical Sciences says that a new generation without any
handicaps is needed in our society.

He says that facilities to diagnose the infants in their foetal stage is now available in medical science. He was in Kollam for an
oration about "pregnancy care and modern techniques" in a function to commemorate the 11th death anniversary of Dr. Damodharan. 70%
abnormalities in a foetus can be diagnosed through ultrasound scanning and chromosome examination. He suggests that foetus with serious
anomalies should be avoided in pregnancy stage itself rather than bringing them as a burden into the society. The proper working of the
heart, brain, lungs, kidney, etc., can also be monitored during the foetal stage.

Suggestions and complaints of the pregnant mothers should also be taken into consideration. If the mother doubts that the baby does not
have enough moments inside, she should be suddenly taken for a medical care. Medical sciences says that this complaint of mothers prove
to be about 90% correct.

Dr, Vijayalakshmi presided over the function held at Sankar Nagar Recreation Hall. Dr.Rajiv cleared the doubts of the audience.
