Guest Lectures

NEOCON 2017

Dr Rajiv was invited as faculty for the 37 Annual Neonatology Conference Delhi to give the presentation on Ventilator Associated Pneumonia( VAP ) which could kill between 26-40% of preterm babies placed on the ventilator for respiratory insufficiency or failure. This disastrous infection was more with the extreme preterm babies. He feels India has come of age with skill and technology related to ventilator care but the infection control practises involved with this critical care are suboptimal. In the west this is between 1-6 per thousand ventilator days. He has given a proposal for India to be evaluated over one year in all the centres doing advanced neonatal care. He completes 30 years in newborn intensive care . The control of VAP is a critical issue in India and he feels his interventions proposed would be useful to the tertiary centres of India . His presentation is linked herewith. He researched articles worldwide for 10 years and fell back on his own infection control practises to evolve guidelines, since his VAP rate was zero for 7 years. There were almost 2000 participants from India and USA UK and Europe.
