Use of Viagra to treat pulmonary hypertension in newborns

Case : Pulmonary Hypertension in Newborn children
When Mrs. Smita Mohan 's 18 hours old baby was brought in the hospital with
pulmonary hypertension , the doctors first tried then conventional ventilation with no improvement of the baby , which took her to high frequency ventilator also yielding no result.
Even infUsing Nitric Oxide through the ventoilator for lowering blood vessel
resistance in the lungs did not produce any change of condition .This prompted Dr.Rajiv to administer "Viagra " , better known for countering male impotence , to the infant . It is a recent discovery that Viagra can be used to treat pulmo nary hypertension.
First in Indian , with not many predecessors worldwide , Dr. Rajiv's treatment is aremarkable one, more, so , as all the three cases, two following Sunita's baby are successful.

Use of Ventilator to serve an infant born with still lungs

Case : Two months premature infant born with non-fimctional lungs The neona tal division ofP.V.S Hospital set in immediate action seeing the just which directly causes smooth muscle relaxation in the arterioles . Hence the blood supply to the lungs improve and the dangerously ill blue baby steadily improves and progresses away from the jaws of death . born baby girl , weighing 2.1 kg , turn ing blue for lack of oxygen . Artificial Ventila tor was brought to her rescue, along with other vital equipments like infUsion pump for control glucose sup ply and incubator for thermal control. Round the clock monitoring with criticare monitor went on for one week, at the end of which the hard labour dotted with many anxious moments delivered result.
The case is supposedly the first of its kind in India in which an infant weighing so less and born so early is to have survived with no damages.
