Dr P K Rajiv was invited by the organising committee of the national neonatology forum for the 32 annual convention in New Delhi, 14 Dec 2012, to talk on the most difficult management dilemna, for the last 3 decades PPHN, His research work with viagra in PPHN ( persistent pulmonary hypertension) of the newborn was a meticulous journey of 25 years of his tryst with this potentialy fatal disease, with a mortality upto 40 %, even in optimal resource settings. His analytical and evidence based presentation with concrete practical guidelines, based on his 93 % success ( 102 cases of echocardiographicaly diagnosed )with this dangerous disease, was well received by the audience, which included experts from the american university hospitals. This presentation is subltly futuristic based, on the latest research work of this decade; the aim being to anticipate and intervene early with available resources in optimal and resource poor settings.; to have favourable outcomes nearing the western counterparts ( 10 -12 % mortality )
